I'll leave you with some Townsville architecture and other bits and pieces. Enjoy!
The old (above) and the newer (below) - inner city
The old above and the newer aquarium - inner city
Two lovely old pubs on the Strand - above is the Queens Hotel and below is the "Cri"
Some beautifully designed homes on the lower reaches of Castle Hill overlooking Cleveland Bay
On a far, far more worrying note is how these locals dress to go out for afternoon tea. I can only but fervently pray that neither of these peculiarities are in any way catching or heaven forbid that as time passes they become appealing to the visitor...er, you know, like to 'give it a go'.............
And I'll leave you with the lovely old Customs Building on the Strand.
Happy Blogging!

I like old buildings much better. I don't think it's an age or nostalgia thing. I always have liked old things.
ReplyDeleteI can feel the pain and muscles in those arms.
Have a lovely weekend. You still do sleepovers [at your age]? HAHA! Good one, says the one who goes to capoeira camps with teenagers :) x
I'm home from my sleep-over Typist, it was a blast and I didn't even partake in alcohol (I get drunk on life itself) :))
DeleteAw Typist, I don't reckon you're as old as you make out. ;)
I love, love love, old buildings too. Especially if I can get inside them.
x
Depends on what you consider old ;)
DeleteI love the older buildings. I think they have more character then the 'newer' ones. But then I do love old things.
ReplyDeleteMamma, its everything with old buildings isn't it - character, the materials, design, workmanship and so on. And, the stories.....
DeleteYou are certainly seeing a lot! Is that cylindrical building condos? I think it would be neat to live in a place like that!
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure what is up with the Alice in Wonderland getup, but I hope that's not becoming a trend. It wouldn't look good on most people, but she's got the figure for it! :)
Ah Halcyon, you are most clever - 'Spice-girl' WAS dressed (in costume) as Alice in Wonderland!! She was off to a bridal shower. Apparently dress-ups are the go with Bridal Showers these days! :)
DeleteHalcyon, sorry, yes that cylindrical building was once a Hotel and I believe that some or all of it has been converted to apartments. The City Centre here is pretty much dead. It's between 30-40 yrs old and has always been affectionately known as the sugar-shaker.
DeleteI am planning on a baby shower in September. Perhaps costumes would be a good idea. :)
DeleteThanks for the info on the sugar shaker. That makes it even more attractive as a place to live for me!
Oh, what lovely old buildings! There is just 'something' about them and they all have stories to tell.
ReplyDeleteOh, I always dress up like that for afternoon tea, don't you? :)
Thanks for popping in to see me.
be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Haha, Shelia - of course you do!!! You do "pretty" the best of anyone I've ever known! :)
DeleteGreat photos, i love all the old buildings. Looks like you are having a great time!
ReplyDeleteI am, I am Cheri - a bit tired though, burning the candles a bit too much both ends me thinks!
DeleteGreat pictures-and everything looks so clean and neat..I admire the older buildings, they seem to have more character, style and a certain elegance about them..It is as though the builders of the era took a degree of pride in their craftsmanship and showed off their abilities (especially with the Cri)..Have a great time at your sleep-over..P.S.-I think that girl is a living doll!!
ReplyDeleteHi JIm, I could just roam about snapping pics of old buildings. I just love them. Sleep-over was great! A living doll eh? She'll like that.
DeleteAnd yes it is quite a clean and neat city (town) it never feels like a city, but more like a very large country town with most things a large city has to offer.
I know you love old buildings and you got some great pics of some and I can tell you are enjoying every minute.
ReplyDeleteJana, I miss so many too! Will be in the car and the sun is in the wrong place; don't dig the camera out quick enough; something will enter the shot and obscure the photo and on it goes.
Deletegreat shots! such vibrant colors!
ReplyDeleteHaha, who is that crazy woman with her legs dangling in the air? Um, is she related to the scarily frocked girl-woman in the pic below? Whoever they are, they sure look like they know how to have a bit of fun (grin)..
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous land you live in.
Mmmm, they sure are related. (scary) fun is th ename of the game up here!!
DeleteOMG!!!! I think I'd rather look like Alice than some crazed fat wombat swinging through the trees.:/
ReplyDeleteDarling girl, but your dedication to your 'past-time' is unbeatable :))
DeletePS and youre a jolly good sport!
DeleteLove the buildings! Funny how on the other side of the world, they look so simialer, and yet so different at the same time. Does that make scence? Lol. I love the outfit, I gotta find one for Shelly!
ReplyDeleteWow! Good thing for spell check on my blog, huh? Lol
DeleteKev, it is surprising how (similar) building can be around the world but different too, and of course it makes complete (sense). Hahahaha, spell check.....you're funny!
DeleteHellll, don't know what Shelly would think of that. ;)
