Day 18 .... a day at the local beaches

We visited the Strand, Cape Pallarenda and drove the windy road to the top of Castle Hill today.  It was very difficult to decide which pics to post as there were so many good ones. We had the best day - please enjoy the local scenery and a couple of, er ..... very strange 'locals'.

Taken from the look-out top of Castle Hill (above & below)

Along  the Strand (above and below) looking out over Cleveland Bay

A lone kite flyer at Cape Pallarenda (above and below) with Magnetic Island in the background.

And here - those very strange locals doing very strange things in a Moreton Bay Fig tree.

Blogger has given me more grief tonight than it ever has before. Inserting the photos was an absolute nightmare. This is the first time it has really frustrated me.
Here's hoping the next lot will be easy-peasy. I'll try again in 48 hours.

HAPPY BLOGGING

    1. Kev, as I get around my home town more and more, I'm noticing things I can't remember having noticed when living here. It's quite strange.
I have no doubt that the crazy part of you would have been having a ball with the 'crazy locals'....... :)

  4. Fig tree, eh?
We have a fig tree in a 14" pot.
Do you suppose if we kept putting it in ever bigger pots it would get to be that size? :-p

    1. June, perhaps you could kind of bonsai it?? I used to have a fig in a pot and I kept it in the same pot for about 6 years and just lopped its roots off every year and plopped it back in with fresh soil and it looked fabulous (wasn't a Moreton though)
That bit of info above for really for others - I instantly got your wry humour ;) and the images it conjured up in my mind!

    1. Oh Rose - me too! Hahaha. These trees are everywhere in Townsville and I used to climb, swing, run around their limbs when I was a kid.

    1. For sure Nellies - have to watch those locals! They are known to lead one astray too.
Funny you mention palm trees because I noticed that nearly all of the palms planted in and around the carparks are COCONUT palms loaded with coconuts. Can you imagine?? :)

  14. I remember the Strand. That's where we had our capoeira festival. Is that YOU on the right, swinging n the fig?

I'm finding it very hard to get back to blogging. One week has passed and I'm being nagged. Blogger has issues and I have issues with it. I've been stopped from posting both pics and vids before. Persevere! Usually wise to just let it go for a few hours or a day or 2. I've tried to force it by trying over and over and just gave myself hives.

Thanks for going into my archives in my absence. You know, Georgia was a wild child and an outcast when we got her from the pound. These days, the same people who said she was mad/aggressive are singing her praises and get this... using her to train their own unruly pups. LOL. Karma. Lucky she's a forgiving pup :)

    1. Hi Typist! I thought you would have been to the Strand. Of course that's me swinging about - if you can flail and kick, I can swing surely.... ;)
Darn Blogger I hope it goes smooth today.
I think Ms Pea is very, very special - with many special gifts. I love it when I have some time just for me and I go in search of posts I haven't read before in your archives. Some wonderful stuff there. :)

    2. When you have time, could you please tell me where you found this REPLY function? I read on Friko's blog that it was now available to Blogger but I can't seem to find it. DUH.

  15. I love those Moreton Bay fig trees.
I loved the way they lined parts of the city of Perth.
I'm a bit worried that you might be getting sunstroke in the tropics though.
    Those locals certainly look affected.

    1. Jim, some of those Moretons are HUGE not only in height but in diameter too.
The locals are def affected by the sun up here. You'll see why in a pic on my next post.
