Header Photo: Full moon in the tropics, taken from the backyard last week.
Any post is better than no post right? It's difficult to believe that it's been a fortnight since I arrived!! Time flies. Well I've caught a
very nasty bug/cold/virus thing and this girl is not feeling too bright, but I am suffering post withdrawals and just
must post!! Missed photo opportunities abound because on numerous occasions I forgot little S.S. in the excitement (drat and darn)
The weather is kind (it can only get cooler) My home town has changed for the better in 16 years. More shopping centres, population has now reached 200,000 - there's a large military base here and RAAF (both of which I'll get photos of) tremendous improvements with city and suburban parklands; roads, and the beachfront areas of the Strand. When I left I felt it was strictly an industrial working town, but now it is tourist oriented with its proximity to the Great Barrier Reef. Also I'm very impressed with many of the modern clean and beautifully laid out suburban estates . A lot of miners and their families call Townsville home, and fly in/fly out to the mines west of Townsville. It's expanding, growing and a seemingly very prosperous city but still with a laid back lifestyle.
For the past fortnight I have done little other than immerse myself with family and enjoy some quiet time-out for me. Having said that, and with feeling really quite under the weather today I thought I'd do a family introduction. (photo notations under each photo)

First born daughter aka 'Home-girl'; Hubs of 'Home-girl'; and 'grandson extraordinaire' Jack almost 6 yrs, photo taken a week ago at the park just a few doors from their family home.
And below is their two young and very exuberant, very large sweet pups Jethro 8 mths and Molly 12mths. Also 2 felines (no photos yet) No photo of 'Home-girl' & Hubs house yet either!
Last born daughter aka 'Spice-girl' & Hubs. Photo taken Christmas time NYC !!
(they did not take me.......)
And below is their dear old Eddie 11 yrs (there's 2 felines here too)
He's a bit like me really, still awfully good looking just a little frayed around the edges.
And he was good enough to turn his dear old paw over for me to play MACRO FEATURE!!
(no, the novelty hasn't worn off yet ...... nothing is spared, or sacred in the quest for macro perfection)
Also at 'Spice-Girl's' is this..........
where you will have to line up and pay, to see me expertly swimming wading around
in my itsy-bitsy, teen-weeny yellow polka-dot bikini sedate one-piece. Oh, who am I kidding
I don't own a swimsuit of any kind! Actually I don't do swimming. Anyway there's oft snakes
having a dip. I kid you not we found one under the outside rubbish bin only yesterday (a deadly brown)
I had walked by that bin about 6 times twice yesterday back and forth to the washing line.
We killed it relocated it back to the bush area where the other 10,000 hang out.
(Ooooh dear I hope I don't lose blogosphere friends through this admission, I promise it was a very sticky situation, perhaps even life and death!)
Here is 'Spice-girls' Hubs work car which he gifted to me lets me borrow because he feels sorry for me thinks I'm the greatest mother-in-law e.v.e.r and deserve such sacrifices.
and here I am doing the blog on his Mac lappie so I can practice and familiarise myself
with it before I make a decision on what I'll buy - but he will probably just gift it to me.
Now I'm just going to laze back on this comfy couch and catch up with all of your blogs.
Thank you for your kind words and I feel very humbled that I've been missed!!
I'm sure I'll be back on top very soon and will have lots of pics of the Tropics.
HAPPY BLOGGING

Welcome back Rose! I hope you're feeling better now. How awful to get sick in all that tropical sunshine. Maybe the colder weather back home will make you feel better.
ReplyDeleteI love all the pics. It's nice to put faces to the daughters who wrote those lovely comments :) but my absolute fave has to be the pup with the black face. I'm a sucker for hound/pig dog types and that black face is so unusual!
Rest well and have a great weekend :) x
Hi Ms Pea and Typist, thanks! I'm sure I'm on the mend. Little Jethro black-face is an ABSOLUTE cutie, in looks and temperament. A really lovely natured boy. I'm hoping I'm back on a roll now with posting even if its just a short one every day or two. I'm heading over your way in a minute to see what's been happening - I should be in bed snoring.
DeleteHugs x :)
Ya, the Rose is back. Glad to hear your at least among the living, and hope you get to feeling better. I'm glad your having such a great visit with family, that is great. Again love your humor, Enjoy your visit =)
ReplyDeleteHi Jana, even though I'm still a bit under the weather, :( it's GREAT to be back and posting again. I'll dash over to your place before hitting the sack properly. x :))
DeleteIsn't is amazing how different the towns we grew up in look when we go back for a visit? Glad to hear yours is going in the right direction. About the snake, you know I love snakes Rose, but even I wouldn't be to fond of a brown living near my trash bin! lol. Great pics of the family! Hope you are feeling better and back to 100% soon Rose!
ReplyDeleteHaha, hi Kevin, it was you and Jim I was particularly thinking of when I added the little justification note :) LOL ! Thanks Kev, I'll be 100% soon! :)
DeleteSorry you are feeling bad, that stinks. I love seeing your family photos and the last moon photo was beautiful. Hope you feel better.
ReplyDeleteHi cheri, glad you enjoyed the pics and I love the moon ones too. Can't believe this little camera takes night photos as well as it does. I did have to toss a few because in those the moon had doubled up - it was strange. Hope all is good over your way. I've been visiting.
DeleteGreat that you are back Rose..Sorry to hear your a little under the weather and hope that you feel better soon..ABout the Deadly Brown--something for you to remember (learned this in survival school in the Marines)..IF and only IF you decide you MUST kill a poisonous snake ALWAYS--ALWAYS bury the head. This must be done with care because even cut off the head can still bite you (nerves)..Wasps, hornets and yellow jackets just love the poison-like candy to them--then, if you are unlucky enough to be stung by a wasp that has been feasting on that snake's poison glands you are facing a VERY serious situation..Talk to you soon--Jim
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry got a little long winded--LOVE the family photos--and the awesome moon picture and the paw--well--ok..
ReplyDeleteJim, I wrote a big-winded reply to you earlier today and the net kicked me off and threw it back in my face. Honestly....so now I'm attempting to re-write all over. Snake heads will be duly buried from now on. This was astounding info Jim. For you I will endeavour with appropriate enthusiasm to find a 'macro' subject you won't be able to resist - stay tuned. You? long winded? long winded is me at your place! :)
DeleteAwww, what a great post - thanks for the introduction to your setting/family, now I can put a face to them when you take us on your adventures. That header shot is awesome! Ha, my bikini days are well behind me, too! Yikes, that snake sounds nasty - and having just read Time Traveler's comment, I'd be a trembling wreck if I ever stumbled across one, myself. Hope you're on the mend. I sure hope my daughter weds such a great son-in-law (I pine for a Mac)..!
ReplyDeleteHi Shrinky! I really enjoyed myself at your place today. The absolute worst is when you step on one in the bush and it rears up in the strike position. Then its just run.for.your.life! :)
DeleteSpeaking of Macs......I'm v.e.r.y undecided........
Lovely pictures. I love the dog paw of course. The family and you seem to be in fine shape, a good thing.
ReplyDeleteFrom now on I'm going to call my laptop a lappie. Sweet.
Welcome back to blogging!
Thanks Reya! :)
DeleteI have to tell you . . . the photo of you working at the laptop confounds me. You look as if you have head, shoulders, arms and no body.
ReplyDeleteMust have done wonders for your weight, getting rid of all that.
How do you manage that?
You mean I didn't mention in previous posts that along with my other talents I'm a contortionist??? :))))) Hahaha, I am actually on a diet while I'm here!
DeleteHi Rose. What a nice family you have! Love all of your 'gifts'! :)
ReplyDeleteYou had me with those little doggy paws! So cute. Hope you're feeling better and Happy Mother's Day.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Hope you're having a wonderful Mothers Day too Shelia! I think the 'gifts' are wishful thinking on my part!!
Deletex
You do realize I was having "ROSE WITHDRAWALS"! Missed you so much. Your Baby Girlz are beautiful and I do hope you are feeling better.
ReplyDeleteLove the moon & tropical header on your blog! You do a wonderful job with the photos; macro paw and all!
Hugz!
Aw Tamara, its nice to be missed :) I'll try not to be the cause of withdrawals again!!! Can't wait to see your Silent Sunday for this week!
DeleteNot a good thing to be under the weather when vacationing. I do hope you are better soon! SNAKES!! Eeeeek! I am scared of snakes and spiders. I am just glad to have a blog to know you are around!!! Get well!
ReplyDeleteThanks Rose! It's Mothers Day here and I was sure hoping to be feeling alot better by now. I'll get there though. Take care too.
DeleteLooks like you're having a nice time. Your grandson is very handsome. :)
ReplyDeleteI'll be sure to tell him Halcyon, he'll like that!
DeleteI would have done the same thing to the snake. No chances here that it's not poisonous or something like that.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your time with your kids! Even when they are grown, they are still your kids. Never understood this until I had my own....
So true Mamma, my tables have turned and Im now learning things about life from my kids!!
DeleteHave you come out in sympathy with me then Rose. G'donya Sheila !
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely looking family you have there. That kid Jack looks like he's going to slay the girls later in life.
I'll say snap on the name Jack. My eldest grandson is Callum Jack and the other is Jack James.
It looks almost civilized where you are.Houses with roofs on them ! Here I was thinking you were away beyond the black stump. (I've been looking at a bit of strine)
Get yourself better Rose 'she'll be right'
And don't go turning yourself inside out with your contortions. (you might get a serious case of athlete's foot in your ear)
Mr D., that was cruel to make this chesty cough splutter and gasp with mirth. You hit my funny bone today. I feel bound to get you back!
DeleteCheers Jim.
its look like show a story..
ReplyDeleteHi Rose, lovely post with so many great photos. Thank you so much. Hope you're feeling better soon.
ReplyDeleteThank you Denise! By the way, I love your new photo :)
