No teddy bears, just magpie geese and ducks. No pond lillies, but lots of lovely ripples and reflections - and the big surprise, the ever elusive Mr Turtle made his presence known (actually there was lots of turtles but only this one appeared for me - in a shy kind of way.
Enjoy the images of my walk to the ponds!
Now you see me now you don't
What? you won't give me bread?? Everyone else does.

It's been a while since I've posted and I seemed to have taken a break from blogging albeit unintentionally. I will look forward to catching up with many of you and your recent posts over the next few days.
HAPPY BLOGGING
Oooh and aaah. What a beautiful, heart-warming CALMING walk you took us on. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteThanks EC, it's always calming and interesting! down at the ponds. I really went to the shop to buy milk (which is next door to the ponds) and of course bloggers always have their cams on them so spent a lovely hour there before the short walk home.
DeleteWhat beautiful peaceful reflections, I can almost hear the water! Glad to see you back Rose!
ReplyDeleteI'm almost back Jenny - working on getting some inspiration back!
DeleteWhat great photos and I love all of the reflections.
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking of taking a break, we'll see how that works out.
Glad to see you back Rose ~ FlowerLady
Even a short break restores a certain something Lorraine. If you do have a break, don't be gone too long will you! you have so much to share.
DeleteWonderful pictures!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Nikki, I'll be over to see you soon!
DeleteHi Rose....great to see another lovely post from you and what beautiful pictures you have shared with us today. Love the little turtle popping up to say hello. Those reflections quite take my breath away and that last little fellow, what an unusual bird.
ReplyDeleteYou have so much beauty so close to where you go to shop, how fortunate you are.
I too have been a little haphazard with my blogging of late. Still getting over losing little Precious but getting there.
Dear Mimsie, I really must give myself a good shake and get with it and start blogging regularly again. -chuckle- I've been waiting over 12 months for that darn turtle to stick his nose out, well A turtle. I nearly dropped the camera with excitement, lucky I had the wrist strap on!
DeleteYou'll never get over losing your Precious Mimsie, but it'll get a little easier for you in time.
It's a new week and I'll be thinking of you.
Those ducks are gorgeous! I have never seen ones like that, but of course, you probably do have species there that we do not have in Oregon!
ReplyDeleteGreat shots!
I'm a little embarrassed Rose, because I don't know the type of duck they are! I'll have to google them and hope for the best. You have many lovely species over there!
DeleteThanks Rose for the encouragement :)
Great capture of the turtle Rose, gee you have many species of ducks and those magpie geese are rather stately. . Love the ripples and reflections in the water.
ReplyDeleteI love the Magpie geese personality and the amazing fact that they roost in trees but, you know the old saying about beauty being in the eye of the beholder? - that's how I feel about Magpie geese!
DeleteHi Rose! I always love seeing what's going on in your part of the world. You really caught these feathered friends well. And I love all the reflections. Hope all is well down under... :)
ReplyDeleteAll is very good down under Hal, and I'm pleased to tell you that Nth Qld is enjoying its coldest tropical winter in eons!
DeleteHow cold is cold? Hopefully not too cold!! I wouldn't like that. ;-)
DeleteHaha I know you wouldn't - our tropical cold is 12c overnight and 24c daytime!!
DeleteThat's quite bearable. :)
DeleteGreat reflections Rose, loved the ripples in the water, that very interesting turtle and those wonderful geese and cute little ducks. A great day for photos :)
ReplyDeleteThe thing I didn't know Denise is there is some quite big fish in there as well, but yes it was a lovely cool day to spend some time at the ponds :)
DeleteWhat lovely photos!! I love the Magpie Geese. How unique-looking and beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteYes Keith, their red warty faces are very unique-looking! and dare I say.....beautiful!
DeleteSuch a colourful post Rose, I love that Plumed Whistler.
ReplyDeleteI watched Queensland's presentation for the 2018 Commonwealth Games on the TV, and though I've visited the Gold Coast they sold Queensland beautifully.
You may already have seen this page, but here's the link anyway Gold Coast 2018
Wow Jim, I haven't even seen the presentation! I can imagine they have sold Qld well though.
DeleteI'll follow the link for sure, I'm most curious.
The Plumed Whistler is my favourite of all the ducks who visit the ponds. He was chortling away at me as I took those photos. He is just as comfortable on land as in water - in fact he grazes on land and, he never ever dives like other ducks. He's quite unique.
What a lovely lot of pictures of the inhabitants of the pond.
ReplyDeleteThe last two chaps are really handsome and don’t they know it.
Thanks Friko, there's lots of striking and beautifully marked ducks from around the world, but one would travel far to find a duck as "cute" as the Plumed Whistler. He's a character and as you indicate, a real show off.
DeleteGood to see you back, Rose. These ducks have such unusual markings - the Magpies are dressed like the Magpie bird here but are geese and have those red faces! Love the Whistler, too.
ReplyDeleteThanks Barb! speaking of magpies, a family has set up residence in a tree in our street. The kids on bikes better watch it spring is coming!
ReplyDeleteLove the Plumed Whistling Ducks they have the most amazing plumage don't you think Rose. I was lucky enough to spot one a while back. Tres belle ripply, reflection images.
ReplyDeleteHi dear Rose,
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful photos! I love the ducks and all of the reflections!
Thanks for such beauty!
Hope you have a good week ahead.
Love!
It has been way too long! I am glad to see you back and look forward to hearing of your exploits. I am just hoping all is well with you and you are happy.
ReplyDeleteI was just wondering about you the other day... Glad to see you back in the 'sphere!
