Because, if Fred is left home he howls mournfully the whole time - he is his boss's right hand man. And today, there is only (just) room for one dog only. Jack and Larry don't express their displeasure as clearly as Fred and can be easily bought with both treats, a walk around the hill at the back here, and a game of soccer! Fred can't be bought/bribed at all.... :)
So Creative, I love it. I have never seen one this decorated but heard of a "barber chair" that was a horse for kids to sit in while they got a haircut. I wonder if the kids would sit still in it . Makes me want to go.
Hello Rose: This is most certainly taking retro that one step further. But whether forward or back, we cannot quite decide. But what great fun it all is and we should have loved to have seen and experienced it for ourselves.
Hello Jane and Lance, From what I could gather none of the decor items are replicas, but rather everything is original and authentic. Someone went to a lot of trouble. Take care!
I remember a Romanesque themed hairdressing unisex salon and spa in London back in the 60's. Togas were worn by customers and staff alike. It was very expensive, but my buddy and I gave it the once over while on army leave. As Michele Shocked says in the song 'Anchorage' "we was wild then" Seems like Fred's nobody's fool.
Now see Jim, the interesting things that come to light from others (you) just from a post. The mad 60's huh?! I would loved to have seen that place and I bet profits were grand. Togas .... really?!
I definitely have not been to a cooler hair salon than this, how fab to be the receptionist there, especially if it was ok to toot the horn every now and then..or maybe not, someone could end up minus a chunk of hair haha! Lucky Fred..
Nikki, the colours really helped the whole establishment NOT to look garish. If it had have been done in the bright reds and yellows etc retro, it would have looked tacky and downright awful.
I can say with certainty that I've never been to a salon quite like this! Did you get your hair done there? They must have quite a reputation to live up to. :)
We have some of these theme salons around here too. Mainly sports theme and geared for men. Oh and there are plenty of 'kid friendly' salons too. As for me, the same woman has been cutting my hair for the past +20 years. I just keep following her where she goes. I think Jack has your number, and just like a naughty kid, knows how to play you like a 'fine tuned fiddle' in that a little howling gets him what he wants ;o) I know this because my dogs do the same thing!
Aha so themed salons do exist elsewhere :) Lucky you having the same hairdresser all that time! She must be good. Your dogs too huh? We humans are just instruments me-thinks Bonnie. :)
Hi Rose! Wow, that is one spiffy looking salon! I have never seen anything like this. But I don't get out much to salons as I cut my own hair! :) Your pups are so cute and thank you so much for popping in to see me. Be a sweetie, shelia ;)
Very cool, I think I would enjoy going to a place like that. Love the pictures of the dogs too. Thanks for stopping by my chicken post and guess what? I investigated the claim about the turken and it is not as was said, part chicken part turkey, but one hundred percent chicken. Just a funny looking one that looks and sounds like a turkey ;)
WAY COOL!! Am I mistaken or is that a 58 or 59 chevy? Reminds me of a bar I used to hang out at that had a flying saucer wreck on the roof and a flying saucer type of bar..Nice photos, Rose..Talk to you soon-Jim
Learning Spanish, getting out of rehab and back to capoeira, enjoying the fabulous sunshine (though I hear there will be a bloody southerly change over the next few days), still cleaning can you believe it? Starting to fix things too. Blog? Who's got time to blog? I don't miss it either though I do feel a tad guilty. I think this is what they mean by "bullied by the blog". You taking a break too? Maybe we should just all enjoy the sun! Abrazos y besos :) X
Good to hear! good to hear! and yep the southerly change is coming I believe, here today its damp, chilly and raining. We do need the rain though :) LOADS of people around blogland have been taking breaks, I think "bullied by the blog" holds a ring of truth. Anyway, let's just enjoy the sun, enjoy a break! x
Oh, Rose! I have tears in my eyes as I've read your most wonderful comment to me. Thank you so much for your support and yes, I'd give you my cookies! :) You are the sweeties, Shelia ;)
Dear Stalker,
ReplyDeleteNah, our salons here are posh. We're in the big city, y'know ;)
And WHY does Fred get to go bush and not the others?
-chortle-

What a dog! He's got you guys figured out, hasn't he? :) Sleepy already. I think I might really be getting old X
DeleteWe don't have any salons that are so creative, I wish we did!
ReplyDeleteI admire the people who have the vision to be so creative Cheri!
DeleteMine is pretty ordinary compared to that creative 50's look!
ReplyDeleteThe fuel pumps at the entrance were my favourites Barb.
DeleteWow! What a place! I've never seen a salon that looked so not-like-a-salon!
ReplyDeleteThere were loads of Japanese tourists photographing it and some went inside and were snapping around the clients!!
DeleteSo Creative, I love it. I have never seen one this decorated but heard of a "barber chair" that was a horse for kids to sit in while they got a haircut. I wonder if the kids would sit still in it . Makes me want to go.
ReplyDeleteHahah, hope the horse didn't buck!!
DeleteHi Rose, We are home from our trip... It was AWESOME..... Hope you have had a good month.
ReplyDeleteThat is a creative and clever salon for sure. When I first saw that old car, I thought it was a 1950's restaurant!!!! We have those around here.
Hugs,
Betsy
Welcome home Betsy!! Wow you have retro restaurants?! I'll be straight over to visit! Pictures, lots of pictures!
DeleteWow, I'm not sure if that's awesome, tacky, or both!
ReplyDeleteAwesomely tacky? :)

ReplyDeleteHi Grace I wonder if everyone has figured out that the car is the reception desk. Haha no horn tooting.....just in case.
DeleteHi Grace, I was wondering if everyone realised that the car was the Reception desk. Haha, def no horn tooting.... :)
DeleteI love the colors of that salon, the aqua/turquoise. They're beautiful!!!
ReplyDeleteNikki, the colours really helped the whole establishment NOT to look garish. If it had have been done in the bright reds and yellows etc retro, it would have looked tacky and downright awful.

ReplyDeleteI looked only Halcyon, I was too scared I might come out with a 50/60's BEEHIVE. :)

I don't think I've seen ANYTHING to top that in my salon-hopping around the country! Fab find!!
ReplyDeleteAnd with your wanderings Red, you'd be sure to know!! :)
DeleteYeah maybe ... but I don't visit too many salons in my travels!!!
DeleteMuch cooler than my hairdresser!
ReplyDeleteBuster sends his best to your guys.
ox
I was hoping some NYer's would say they have some awesome ones there Elizabeth. Big pats back for sweet Buster.

Deletewow!! that place is rocken!
ReplyDeleteI didn't manage to see any of the hair-dos though, I hope they were rockin' !! :)
DeleteSuch a cool looking place. Unique way to use a car!
ReplyDeleteHI Rose, I would like to have seen them getting it in there!
DeleteWAY COOL!! Am I mistaken or is that a 58 or 59 chevy? Reminds me of a bar I used to hang out at that had a flying saucer wreck on the roof and a flying saucer type of bar..Nice photos, Rose..Talk to you soon-Jim
ReplyDeleteI'd say you're right Jim. A flying saucer theme.....hmmmm would that have been in the 'way out man' days??? :)
DeleteI'm so sorry, but my salon is a very boring village hairdressing salon with not a single exciting feature.
ReplyDeleteSo's mine Friko........
DeleteThat's a fancy schmancy looking place... you won't be finding anything like that round these 'ere parts.
ReplyDeleteRose,What a fun salon,love the colour.:)
ReplyDeleteHi there Jeanette, I'm popping over to visit you shortly! :)
