~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tonight is my last night in my home town with my extended visit coming to a close .... well, for now - but that's another story. It's the tropics and it is POURING tonight. It is good, it is needed.
It has been such a precious time with my children; simply blending in with the routine of day to day life and immersing myself in this north Queensland tropical town (albeit in the crisp, cool months) all over again; revisiting the old, and exploring the new..... and catching up with some old friends.
I wonder what Christmas in the tropics would be like? Mmm, now there's a thought. Here in Oz we melt.
This time tomorrow night I will be back 'home' (full day in transit!) Many things have occurred during my absence but most concerning for me is that the 'Team' have not faired entirely well but an update on that will ensue after I have all of the details.
I'll be back blogging in a few short days, and I'll leave you with some pics to enjoy - a tribute to these amazing people in my life - who just happen to be 'mine'.
'Home-girl' & hubs
Grandson - 'Jack', a real "star"
'Spice-girl' & hubs
~~~~~~~~~~~
.......... and a few shots I've taken with my new CAM, playing with some of the features when visiting the Hervey's Range Heritage Tea Rooms. 'Spice-girl' totally surprised me with a Sunday drive up to the Tea Rooms - it was a beautiful day and a wonderful outing. (click any pics to enlarge for reading or better detail)
(This is my personal favourite)
...... and an Aussie billabong out the back along the walking trail
and a little further I was charmed to see a real "bush Chapel" through the trees - so totally unexpected
...... a lot of old things were strewn around
..... and some shiny new beauties were carefully parked, but not a sign of the riders anywhere Jim B.!
We did NOT choose the Kopi Luwak from the menu selection! Has anyone out there indulged in this?

HAPPY BLOGGING and TAKE CARE

our new camera is coming in very handy, I see. Lovely pictures. I love the collection of 'antiques' you've photographed. (No, I don't mean your delightful family)
ReplyDeleteOoops Friko I replied to you a little further down!
DeleteHum, isn't that the coffee made from poop :op
ReplyDeleteThe tea house is how I've always picture the outback to be. As for the heat at Christmas,not here, it's usually snow!
Yes Bonnie - Indo cat poo (I've just put a link in my post, its pretty interesting!)
DeleteIsn't it incredible that you have the big freeze and snow at Christmastime and we simply melt with airconditioners on HIGH.
The pics depict our part of the outback in this area quite well.
x
(chuckle) antique children, now there's food for thought Friko! - Blogger world never ceases to amaze me - I was fine tuning a couple of things in draft form on the post when your comment came through. There were so many more photos but when does one call a halt so as not to bore everyone to sleep!! ;) I wonder what time it is at your place? Its just gone 9pm here.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of the camera though - cannot for the life of me get a decent sky shot (moon in particular) it's quite frustrating.
Only a day to get home? Are the connections better this time round? Well, I wish you a safe and pleasant journey. May you not get lost in T3 or have to sit in front of a bawling babe or beside a snoring man.
ReplyDeleteI love the junk. Did you put any in your purse to bring home? I also notice the for sale sign. The Other Half loves looking at for sale places wherever we go. Good thing we don't have any money to actually buy them.
What's this about The Team not doing well? Just missing you I hope :( report soon. I don't know them too well since someone has not really written a lot about the roo eating dogs but I'd like to :)
Hooroo! X
Once again, your header pic popped up as I was commenting. Let's get our act together next time, what say you? ;) It's very nice.
DeleteHi Typist, we'll have to sync watches in future!! the trip back is a little less this time, not so long a stop at each airport. Leave here 9.20 am and land Tamworth 5pm, so not too bad.
DeleteHa,I got side-tracked but was going to ask the going price for the Tea rooms, (mostly out of curiosity) but they are raking it in and do a very nice meal must say.
Can't believe what you said Typist, because on my return I'm going to feature a few posts about The Team and each individuals story. I said a fair bit in the Furry Friends tab, but I feel people might like to get to know them up close and personal.
Hope youre doing ok, I'll have to nip across and see if you've done a new post!
xx Hooroo too.
PPS: no not just missing me, there's been some injuries in the Team and an unwanted pregnancy. :(
DeleteI guess you'll be travelling, or traveled by now Rose, so I might be a bit late in wishing you a pleasant journey.
ReplyDeleteThat's a great lookin' family you have there.
Love the pictures, especially the stove. Reminds me of one similar in an outpost in British Guiana (now Guyana), where the fried egg butties were sublime.
I guess the Kopi Luwak goes through a Wakki Loup for that price.Lol
Jim you are very humourous (chuckle) - I'm all travelled out and pleased to be hardly moving today!! I suppose you're out playing with your camera - can't wait for the next collection. Anyone reading this should hook over to Jims and check out his photography, truly!
DeleteLove the photographs! A friend of mine tried that coffee in Bali... I don't remember what his opinion was but I don't think he thought it was particularly awful or brilliant. Safe travels home.
ReplyDelete:)
At last - YAY, someone who knows someone who was brave enough to try this delicacy! Thanks, home safe.
DeleteIt looks like your having a great time with your camera and I too love the first picture. Also, glad you had such a good visit with family and a safe ride home.
ReplyDeleteOh Jana, really I am not blessed with immeasurable patience and the camera is causing me some consternation. It has toooooo many features!!:))
DeletePS, how can one tiny pocket camera be filled with so much 'stuff'????
DeleteYou're doing some fine shots with the new camera! I like the pitcher, the hats, and that old pickup - all photographs show so much old-timey character. Safe trip home.
ReplyDeleteThanks Barb, I'll soldier on!! I thought I was EVER-SO clever with the pitcher-picture :)
DeleteOh there is a delightful scene in "The Bucket List" about the Kopi Luwak coffee! Keep us updated on the happenings on the homefront, Girly, Girl!
ReplyDeleteOooh Jack Nicholson, a devil of a man but a fine actor! Girly girl is trying to do a post! I shouldn't be talking today should I? It's Silent Sunday here!
DeleteGreat pics once again Rose! And this time I knew what a billabong was. Glad you had such a good visit.
ReplyDeleteThanks Kevin - the billabong thing was following me, haven't seen one for like twenty years and all of a sudden they are everywhere I go!!
DeleteCat Poo coffee??? Are you pulling my leg????
ReplyDeleteI have smelled my cat's poo and definitely would not consider doing anything with it but flushing down toilet or tossing into the trash!!
hahahaha Rose, I'm with you! Click on the cat poo link at the end of my post - its really very interesting.
Deletelucky you! and welcome back. your pictures are really fun to look at.
ReplyDeleteThanks Annmarie-Mom, glad you stopped by! How's the vegies?
DeleteLoved your photos Rose and I have enjoyed getting to know your family. I hope all is well on the homefront and that you are doing well. I will be waiting anxiously for your next post.
ReplyDeleteYou're such a sweetie, your internet might cut out on you out at the Lake. Hope not though. Oh I hope youre having a grand time! I should get off here and get back working on my post :)
DeleteThe way you photographed the top photo, outside the building, with the windows open,- just made me stop.
ReplyDeleteThat is really nice!
And you have so many other nice images on your blog.
