To the ponds I go

Feeling somewhat embarrassed after an email or two from cheeky blog friends asking if I was still
on-planet or if I was sick, I felt it was time (a-hem) well overdue in fact to make my presence known again. And not by just publishing a little post, but visiting you and seeing what you've all been up to. Where does time go I wonder!
The tropics of northern Australia continue to be . . . well the tropics - hot, humid, sapping the mind of all coherent thought and the body of all things too physical.  So for a change from the (almost) daily trip to the air-conditioned gym I decided to head off in the dark and visit the ponds yesterday.

It was unusually quiet, only the odd duck and magpie goose

The last time I visited the ponds the lilly pads were dormant, this time it was riot of colour & blooms

I had good intentions of heading back home before the sun rose too high in the sky but sitting and observing and waiting for that great shot (which just didn't happen today) is so time consuming hence the sun was indeed quite high as I set off for home.

HAPPY BLOGGING

And what is happening in Scotland? .....................it is very, very cold in Scotland.

  2. Hi Rose, the ponds gave you a great new Header. I'm glad you went there and stayed past sunrise. I like seeing it with and without the light from the sun. Those lilies are really something! How does Nature do it - such beauty! There is a winter storm warning here for a great deal of snow plus gusting winds which will mean drifting. I live in a ski town, after all...

    1. Oh yes Barb, isn't nature just a marvel. You my friend are so incredibly in touch with the natural world, I'll be watching for that dump of snow tomorrow.

  3. So . . . have you already been to Scotland? Or do you have your information secondhand? All we get is a report on the weather?

Your ponds are so lovely. Refreshing looking. Oh to see some green again.

  4. Hello? Scotland? Yes my ears perked up on that last shot :) These photos are gorgeous Rose, they have a lovely dreamlike quality to them but am I being too fanciful? I love the pond with the stunning waterlilies and all the beauty around it. That Magpie Goose, I've never seen one of him before, didn't know there was such a thing as a Magpie Goose but I can see why he is so named. He's very striking. Have a great week my friend.

    1. Hi Denise! the magpie geese are amazing - they roost high up in the trees, most unusual, and yes, he is aptly named!
Haha, I knew your ears'd perk at the Scotland shot. :)

It is the snow which gets me yearning though. Your images are glorious but I know what your humidity is like. Bleah.

  9. I loved the pics of the ponds and the magpie goose and the water lilies. Tropical looks really good to me right now. I took a picture of one lonely crocus blooming in my yard today. By Thursday it will be looking more like the Scotland picture around here.

  10. I always love blooming lily pads. There is a place not far from here called Oregon Gardens, and it was created by many master gardeners with a plan. It is so lovely! I love the ponds there with lily pads as well as lots of frogs! Those are strange looking geese. We usually see a lot of Canada Geese. How is the "romance" going?

    1. Hi Keith! yes during our winter months there are quite a few areas of Oz (with ski resorts too!) that get heaps of snow. All in the south or south eastern areas of Australia. I bet you are enjoying a lovely winter!

  13. Snow and cold is what is happening in the United States now now too... It's winter here --and although we don't have snow here in Tennessee now, it is COLD... Love seeing your POND pictures...Reminds me of when we go to Biltmore in the summer to see the lily pads and blooms... LOVE them. Your pictures are awesome. I would have a hard time leaving that area also. Looks so peaceful.

  37. Hi Rose, so lovely to see those pictures, the colour is just wonderful, it almost looks like a Disney scape! The contrast to the last one made me laugh, all that colour then ....... Well, there you are you will certainly be experiencing contrast, not long now then, I am in the middle of moving home at the moment, so I'm wishing you a wonderful trip, and a safe journey now as I doubt I will be popping back in for some time.
